Yesterday was allegedly a rest and strength day. But I really wanted to go to spin because I hadn’t been in 6 weeks because of being out of town and busy. My favorite teacher teaches Mondays and Wednesdays and she makes the greatest music mixes. So I went to spin early with the intention of doing a quick set of arms and back before hand.
However, I started talking to one of the trainers about running, she had just had a baby and couldn’t run and missed it. I have no friends who like to run, (besides all of y’all and the fabulous people on the runners world forums of course) and so it was so exciting to chat about running, what I was currently doing , why it is great etc. Then suddenly I realized I had like 8 minutes before class. So I jumped on the treadmill , did a 3 minute warm-up and managed one set of rows, pushups, bicep curls and over head shoulder press. Oh well.
Spin was awesome. If you have never tried spin, do it! It was one of my personal fitness bucket goals when I was getting back in shape to do spin class and I tried for the first time in the spring. I was terrified of it because people talk about vomiting and passing out, but it is totally in your own control and if you have a good instructor with good music, it is great fun and a good workout.
So I guess I got an extra cross train in, but a really pitiful strength workout. This is why I need my trainer again! Unfortunately, when I went to leave I couldn’t find my parking ticket. I tried whining to the lady but she was having none of it, so I got charged $16 (max fee) for parking rather then the usual free. Add my spin class cost in and it was $26. Curses.
This mornings run was uneventful. My ass is totally sore and my legs are tired. It is amazing how sore those funny little bum muscles get after being on a bike if you haven’t been on one for awhile. I also managed to fail using my Garmin twice. First, when I started jogging I pressed the lap button rather then the start button and didn’t notice for several minutes. Then I restarted it after crossing an intersection and realized a few minutes later I hadn’t actually stopped it for the light, so instead it had just missed another portion of my run. Fail. Luckily I ran the same route as last Tuesday so it was easy to know how far I ran. Garmin said 3.12 miles with an average pace of 10:22. So I converted that to a 3.67 mile run and got this.
- Distance: 3.67 miles
- Time:38:40
- Pace: 10.22
- Avg\max HR:140/154
- Calories ~360
Didn’t see any other joggers this morning again. I did however pass one guy on a bike who was talking to himself. Just what every lone, pre-sunrise, female jogger wants to see. Crazy men. Excellent.
healthy meal idea of the day:

i’ve only done spinning once (and that was a looooooooooong time ago in 8th grade) but every time i hop on a bike to go somewhere i’m always amazed at how sore my butt is the next day!
ouch, not only to your butt, but to those ridiculous fees!
i had an ulcer last year because i am fond of skipping meals and working too hard. it was quite painful`:~
ulcer is quite painful and sometimes it is deadly too, my grandmother died from ulcer:’;
believe me, ulcer is quite painful and its symptoms are not very good’~;
