10K birthday running playlist

In preparation for my 10K race tomorrow I put together a special running playlist.   Since tomorrow is also my 28th birthday I chose a hit song from each year (1981-2008) to add to the list. I tried to pick songs which are not super slow and which I have some memories of, but there are a few totally randoms in here too!

  1. 1981:  Jessie’s Girl – Rick Springfield
  2. 1982: Hey Mickey – Toni Basil
  3. 1983: Billie Jean – Michael Jackson
  4. 1984: Ghostbusters – Ray Parker Jr
  5. 1985: The Power of Love – Huey Lewis and The News
  6. 1986: Papa Don’t Preach  – Madonna
  7. 1987:  Heart -Alone  (Except the Glee Cast version!!)
  8. 1988:  Man in the Mirror – Michael Jackson
  9. 1989: Straight Up – Paula Abdul
  10. 1990: Step by Step – New Kids on the Block
  11. 1991:  Unbelievable – EMF
  12. 1992: You’re Never Gonna Get It – EnVogue
  13. 1993:  Informer – Snow
  14. 1994: The Sign – Ace of Base
  15. 1995: Gangsta Paradise – Coolio
  16. 1996:  You’re Making me High – Toni Braxton
  17. 1997: I’ll Be Missing You – Puff Daddy & Faith Evans
  18. 1998: The Boy is Mine – Brandy and Monica
  19. 1999: No Scrubs – TLC
  20. 2000: There You Go – Pink
  21. 2001: Let Me Blow Your Mind – Gwen Stefani &Eve
  22. 2002: Hot In Here – Nelly
  23. 2003:  Bring Me to Life – Evanescence
  24. 2004: Yeah – Usher
  25. 2005: Don’t Cha – Pussycat Dolls
  26. 2006: SexyBack – Justin Timberlake
  27. 2007: Umbrella – Rihanna
  28. 2008:  Low – Flo Rida

The playlist is 115 minutes long. I am sure it won’t take me quite that long to run it but I figure I can skip some songs and have something to listen to while we wait to start too.

My goal for tomorrow is under 59 minutes, I would love 58 minutes but I will be happy with anything under an hour as my current record is 59:09.  This will be my 3rd 10K.    Stay tuned for a race recap tomorrow!
