This weekend I switched it up to do my long run on Saturday and my easy run on Sunday, rather then the usual order which is the opposite. So this morning I woke up to do 3 miles. It really worked mentally. I had a great run yesterday and so I was really looking forward to today’s run. Sadly, my legs were really tired this morning. I ran the same 3 miles I did at the end of my run yesterday trying to take it slow and not needing to make too much effort at slowing down. The stats look fine but my legs felt sluggish, my right calf was tight and my hips were really stiff. I need a bubble bath I think.
- Distance: 3.08 miles
- Time: 31:58
- Pace: 10:23
- Avg HR\Max HR: 141/163
- Cals: 305
On a more entertaining note I have had great fun deer spotting the last two runs. This morning I looked up to see a young female deer trotting ahead of me. She probably kept up her pace on the road for 30 seconds before getting spooked and running off into the bushes. Screw a dog, I totally need a pet deer to run with. Yesterday, I saw two adorable fawns on the side of the road, one let me pass by without moving at only 5-6 feet away which was kinda fun. Then I saw this same large buck twice. The males can be big, potentially dangerous and don’t spook easily. So I crossed the road and let him stare me down. It was actually totally scary. I kept thinking about what would happen if he charged me. I was even writing cheesy headlines in my head. Why Running can be Hazardous for your Health: Female Jogger impaled by Deer. Plus, what was this weird guy doing crossing the island to see me twice? Hmm.. maybe he was thinking the same thing. I will need to do some reading on what you are supposed to do if you encounter a buck on a deserted road.
Lastly, this is another weekly mileage record for me! I ran 22.89 which beats last weeks record of 20.9. September was also by far my highest mileage month ever at 80.26, totaling blowing away April which was 67.04. This week will be a slight cutback since I am planning on running a 10K on Thanksgiving Monday, which is also my 28th birthday! I am totally stoked, although it always rains on my birthday which means it promises to be a rainy run. Oh well.
healthy meal of the day:
French Toast for Dinner. Just make good choices, use a whole grain bread instead of white. Choose real maple syrup and mix a tablespoon or two with some heated berries. Top with Greek Yogourt. My favorite.

way to go on the mileage pr. and whenever i see a deer (or any wildlife really) i always think: what would i do if they charged and attacked haha
I know a lot of people really like taking the day off after a long run and I do sometimes…but those short easy runs the day after are such a great mental training, plus it teaches your legs to run tired.
I always jump when I see wildlife but especially deer…i don’t really trust them!
Good point about teaching your legs to run tired!
