I had to alter my training plan a bit to squeeze in the 10K race on Monday. I was due to run a 4.5 mile easy run next Tuesday, but instead I thought I would shift it up, run it today, then take two days off before the race, plus a day after the race if I needed it. So this makes 4 days of running in a row which I don’t know if I have ever done before. Because I haven’t been running for years I find it hard on my body so I try and distribute my runs more evenly over the week and not run more the 5 times a week.
I was expecting to be more tired for the run today but I guess because yesterday was so short it wasn’t that bad. In fact it kinda turned into a progression run, unintentionally which is why I wrote down my laps. Sweet. A good run, not a ton to report, I let myself sleep in a bunch (6:15!) since I had a long day at work yesterday so I had a beautiful sunrise to watch, but I rushed my stretching and rolling out so I will need to do that later. I also tried a new podcast to listen to which was decent but not wildly entertaining. I will try it again but am still looking for suggestions. (It was Kevin Smith’s Smodcast.)

I am really excited about the race on Monday! A 10K race around the seawall and it is currently not calling for rain and it is my birthday! A perfect way to spend a birthday if you ask me. I was even thinking about putting together a birthday themed playlist… maybe one song for every year I was alive? Of course that would be way too long but there will be waiting for the race and stuff too.
healthy meal idea of the day:
Coriander and Green Olive Hummus. I love variations on hummus, roasted red peppers, artichokes & goat cheese are all frequent additions but I have never tried olives. Brilliant.

what a great bday gift! i’m actually looking to do the same thing when my bday comes up. yay for being excited to race
